Dialysis Transportation

Dialysis Transportation

Dialysis is a standing appointment, usually three times a week, and missing a session matters. StepRite sets your rides up as a recurring schedule built around your chair time, so you are not calling to rebook every few days.

Recurring Rides

How recurring rides work

  1. Tell us your schedule. Your center, your days and your chair time, plus how long a typical session runs.
  2. We set the pickup times. We work back from your chair time so you arrive with time to check in.
  3. The rides repeat.
  4. When things change, such as a new chair time, a hospital stay or a holiday schedule, call us any time and we will update your standing order.
After Treatment

After treatment

Many people feel tired, lightheaded or cold after a session. Our drivers expect that. They give riders time to get settled, help them from the center’s door to the van, and see them safely inside at home.

If you feel unwell after treatment, tell the dialysis staff before you leave. If you feel seriously unwell on the way home, tell the driver; for chest pain, trouble breathing or fainting, call 911.

For Centers

For dialysis center staff

Social workers and center coordinators can set up and change recurring rides for patients. See our page for healthcare facilities.

How It Works

Booking a ride

Call or request online

Call (862) 297-3071 any time, day or night, or send a request online. Tell us who is riding, where from and to, the date and time, and how they get around.

We confirm the details

A StepRite coordinator calls back to confirm the pickup time and the vehicle.

We pick up

The driver arrives at the agreed time and helps the rider to the van.

We bring them home

Return trips are scheduled when you book or arranged when the appointment ends.

Please book at least 24 hours ahead. Need a ride today? Call (862) 297-3071 and we will see what we can do. Please do not send diagnoses, medical records or insurance ID numbers through the website; we only ask for what we need to plan the ride.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to book every dialysis ride separately?

No. We set up a recurring schedule once and update it when your schedule changes.

What happens on holidays?

Many centers change their schedules around holidays. Tell us your center's holiday hours and we will move your rides to match.

For medical emergencies, call 911. StepRite provides scheduled, non-emergency medical transportation only.

Ready When You Are

Let us take the worry out of the next appointment.

Our phones are answered 24/7. Please book at least 24 hours ahead; for a same-day ride, call and we will see what we can do.
